Roasted green beans are a simple, flavorful side dish with crisp edges and tender centers. This easy recipe uses just a few pantry ingredients and works beautifully with chicken, fish, beef, or holiday meals. The high-heat oven brings out the natural sweetness of the beans while keeping the preparation quick and effortless.
Ingredients
- 450 g fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 220 C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Wash and trim the green beans, then pat them dry so they roast properly.
- Place the green beans in a large bowl. Add the olive oil, garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Toss until evenly coated.
- Spread the beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Roast for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the beans are tender with lightly browned edges.
- Remove from the oven and finish with lemon juice or Parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Serve immediately as a side dish.
