Jalapeño poppers are a crowd-pleasing snack with a creamy, cheesy filling and a crisp golden topping. This version is baked for a lighter finish, but still delivers plenty of flavor, heat, and crunch. They are ideal for parties, game day, or as a bold side dish alongside grilled meats or burgers.
Ingredients
- 6 large jalapeño peppers
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. For less heat, clean them thoroughly; for more heat, leave a little membrane behind.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chives if using.
- Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with the melted butter, then sprinkle the mixture over the filled peppers.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the jalapeños are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving so the filling sets slightly and the peppers are easier to handle.
