This Hamburger Casserole is a cozy, family-friendly main dish made with seasoned ground beef, pasta, tomato sauce, and a creamy cheese topping. It is simple to assemble, budget-friendly, and ideal for busy weeknights or make-ahead dinners.
Ingredients
- 450 g ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce, 400 g
- 1 can diced tomatoes, 400 g
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190 C and lightly grease a medium baking dish.
- Cook the macaroni in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened.
- Add the garlic and ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the sour cream and milk until smooth.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the beef sauce in the baking dish. Spoon the sour cream mixture over the top, then sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
