Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes, optional
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, optional
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
- Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato, tomato paste, beef broth, salt, black pepper, paprika, cumin, and chili flakes if using.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thick and well seasoned.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Remove from the heat and finish with chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve hot with rice, pasta, tortillas, potatoes, or in sandwiches and bowls.
