Garlic Shrimp is a quick, aromatic main dish made with tender shrimp sautéed in butter, olive oil, garlic, lemon, and fresh herbs. It is simple enough for a weeknight meal yet elegant enough to serve for guests. Enjoy it with rice, pasta, crusty bread, or a fresh salad.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives, optional
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the butter melts.
- Add the garlic and red pepper flakes, if using, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque.
- Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest, then toss to coat the shrimp evenly.
- Remove the pan from the heat and mix in the parsley and chives, if using.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
