Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 6 to 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 45 to 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475 F. If using a pizza stone or steel, place it in the oven while preheating.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large circle or rectangle, depending on your pan or stone.
  6. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza peel. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface and sprinkle with oregano.
  7. Top with mozzarella, bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and olives. Season with black pepper and brush the crust with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  9. Remove from the oven, let rest for 2 minutes, slice, and serve warm.
