Ingredients
- 4 flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded cheese, such as cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 1/2 cup cooked chicken, optional
- 1/4 cup diced bell pepper, optional
- 1/4 cup sliced onion, optional
- 2 tablespoons salsa, for serving
- 2 tablespoons sour cream, for serving
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter or oil.
- Place one tortilla in the skillet and sprinkle half of the cheese evenly over one half of the tortilla.
- Add any optional fillings, such as chicken, bell pepper, or onion, over the cheese.
- Fold the tortilla over to cover the filling and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, until the second side is crisp and the cheese is fully melted.
- Transfer to a cutting board and repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
- Cut into wedges and serve warm with salsa and sour cream.
