This homemade ranch dressing is creamy, tangy, and packed with fresh herb flavor. It comes together in minutes with simple pantry ingredients and tastes far better than store-bought. Use it as a salad dressing, vegetable dip, sandwich spread, or drizzle for baked potatoes and wings.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup buttermilk, plus more as needed
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh dill, finely chopped, or 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 small garlic clove, finely grated or minced
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
- Add the chives, parsley, dill, garlic, lemon juice, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Whisk until the dressing is well combined and creamy.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning. Add a little more buttermilk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before serving to let the flavors blend.
- Serve chilled with salads, vegetables, fries, chicken wings, or as a sandwich spread.
