This peach cobbler is a classic baked dessert with sweet, tender peaches bubbling under a soft, golden topping. It is simple to prepare, full of comforting flavor, and wonderful served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 6 cups sliced peaches, fresh or canned and drained
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 F and lightly grease a medium baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix gently and spread the fruit mixture evenly in the baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until just combined.
- Pour the batter evenly over the peach mixture. Do not stir.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top for extra caramelization.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
