This easy dump cake is a no-fuss baked dessert with layers of fruit filling, dry cake mix, and butter that bake into a bubbling, golden treat. It is ideal for potlucks, family dinners, and last-minute sweets when you want something comforting with very little prep.
Ingredients
- 2 cans fruit pie filling, about 21 ounces each, such as cherry or peach
- 1 can crushed pineapple, 20 ounces, undrained
- 1 box yellow cake mix, 15.25 ounces
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, optional
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F and lightly grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the fruit pie filling evenly over the bottom of the prepared dish. If using pineapple, spoon it over the fruit filling and spread gently.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the fruit layer. Do not stir.
- If desired, sprinkle cinnamon and chopped nuts over the top.
- Drizzle the melted butter as evenly as possible over the cake mix, covering most of the surface.
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the top is deeply golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
- Let the dump cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving so it can set slightly.
- Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
